I have always struggled to land on one specific style. A style that I could own. Recently, as I have been playing around with drawing and painting I have seen two distinct styles emerge. Usually when I draw the style is realistic, the subject matter usually nature or a person. Something that can be cut and dry with not too much emotional meaning.
As I move into painting I see an abstract realism appear, similar to Eyvind Earle, one of my favorite artists.
Last week I began doodling with water and acrylic on watercolor paper. I think this may be one of my favorite things to do so far. My cat even managed to get in on the action, sticking his paw in the paint as I blew it around the page with a straw. Anyway, I feel like I'm starting to see my own style emerge and it's exciting!
Recently with painting I have been using my fingers. The last two pieces I've done I have taken a different approach and used paper towels and stamping. I think I have found (one) my style(s)!
It's hard to believe all of these closeups are taken from the same 11" by 14" sheet of paper!
I'm more than excited to keep experimenting with this painting method.
