After my grandmother moved into assisted living her immediate family was given the opportunity to sort through the belongings in her condo. Holiday decorations, kitchen items, and linens were divided up between the family members. I was fortunate enough to receive her dining room set, desk, freezer, and other odds and ends, along with the majority of her fake flower arrangements.
I've spent a good part of the last few weeks putting all the belongings into their new homes: vases and trinkets into her hutch, dining room furniture into the kitchen, desk in my living room. Yesterday I finally made it to the flowers. Originally planning to take apart all of the arrangements, I did decide to keep one that went nicely with the color scheme I have in the bedroom. The rest I took apart, flower by flower. It was a pretty satisfying activity and I ended up with a large Rubbermaid container of flowers that I can use in arrangements or on top of wrapped gifts for special occasions.
All in all, it was fun, I like the new arrangements that I have and I love that I could repurpose some very pretty fake flowers! :)
